‍ ‍Welcome to the Crime & Punishment shorts page whereby we explore some noble and less than noble adventures and incidents from Lost New London.

While gathering material for the Lost New London book, I came across adjacent reports of crimes committed and police court proceedings. This unsolicited material begged further investigation and a writer‘s license. These shorts are confined to the neighborhoods east and west of the former Main Street and the southern area of East New London and cover the 1750 to 1972 time period… a real shotgun approach to the lives, places, and lifestyles that no longer exist, but certainly plumb the depths of human emotion and motivation known to the world since time began.

At the police station in the former Stanton School, Union at Federal Streets, now the home of Public Works, Planning and other city departments.

We are close to Christmas judging by the wall-mounted nativity scene, most likely 1953. On the left is Patrolman James F. Sullivan as identified by his son John. The officer on the right and their handcuffed guest remain to this date unidentified.
