‍ ‍Story 6, R-Day plus…

This story narrates some of the reported (in The Day) events leading up to the referendum on April 30, 1962 and later the first home demolition on Thursday, September 5, 1963. As an experiment, the narration is comprised of quotations taken from news reports in chronological order from the mid-fifties as the plans for large-scale redevelopment were being first seriously explored to the demolition of the first home at 100 Winthrop Street in 1963.
